Welcome!

Aviation is about flying airplanes...and so much more!

There's a lot more that goes into flying than just stick and rudder. Aerospace engineering, air traffic control, maintenance, FBO management, airline dispatch and safety are all a part of what makes flying possible.

Sometime around the 7th and 8th grades, kids begin to make choices which will influence career decisions; one of our goals is to expose young people and adults to aviation and to act as mentors to help them achieve their goals.

Plus... we love aviation. The chapter is also a good way for people interested in aviation to get together and share stories, tips, and encouragement.

Aviation/Aerospace Career Scholarship

Michael Green is awarded a $1000 scholarship by President Jen Nelson

On Tuesday, January 15 the Women in Aviation, NW Arkansas Chapter awarded Michael Green its first Aviation/Aerospace Career Scholarship. The $1000 scholarship is awarded to an individual with a commitment to a career in an aviation or aerospace related field, with a preference for individuals from the Northwest Arkansas area. The successful scholarship application included defined goals, evidence of working toward career goals, and demonstrated community involvement.
Michael Green is a flight instructor at the Bentonville airport with the career goal of becoming a Part 135 charter pilot. The scholarship will help Michael continue to work toward completing flight training requirements for an airline transport pilot certificate and to work toward completion of his college degree. Michael has been active in promoting aviation in Northwest Arkansas by doing presentations at area schools, arranging tours, and sharing his aviation passion with friends and colleagues.
